U.S.M.C. AH-1W Super Cobra
Farah Province, 29 December 2008 —
An AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter, assigned to Marine Light/Attack Helicopter Squadron 269, providing close-in fire support, lifts off from Forward Operating Base Delaram during Operation Gateway III, December 29, 2008. Operation Gateway III was a strategically planned operation to place combat outposts along southern Afghanistan's Route 515, providing security and safer travel for Afghan residents, as well as ISAF and Afghan National Security Forces. The squadron is part of the aviation combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Afghanistan.
