Philippine Sea, 08 June 2003) — USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) turns into the wind at the beginning of flight operations. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group will remain in the Western Pacific while the forward-deployed USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) undergoes maintenance in order to maintain a responsible defensive posture in the region.
